TechFlow news, November 12 — According to The Block, Visa announced a new stablecoin payment pilot program that initially supports Circle's USDC. The program allows U.S. businesses to make payments in fiat funds via Visa Direct, while creators, freelancers, and gig economy workers can choose to receive payments directly in stablecoins. This "groundbreaking" pilot aims to enable near-instant cross-border payments, particularly beneficial in regions with high currency volatility or limited banking access. Recipients must have a "compatible" stablecoin wallet and meet KYC/AML requirements. Visa plans to scale up the program in the second half of 2026 and has already facilitated over $140 billion in crypto and stablecoin transaction volume, establishing more than 130 stablecoin-linked card issuance programs across over 40 countries worldwide.
