TechFlow news, November 10 — According to Jinshi Data, after Senate Majority Leader and Republican John Thune announced a potential agreement to end the government shutdown, the Senate Appropriations Committee promptly released three proposals aimed at ending the shutdown. The currently disclosed process indicates:
The Senate is expected to first vote on advancing the temporary funding resolution previously passed by the House of Representatives (which had failed to advance in the Senate 14 times before);
It will then be amended to include full-year appropriations measures and a longer-term government funding extension;
The plan also includes an agreement to hold a vote on healthcare policy items sought by Democrats on a scheduled date.
The Senate could vote on the temporary funding measure as early as the morning of November 10 Beijing time. The measure requires 60 votes to advance, while Republicans currently hold 53 seats in the Senate. Senate Democrats are scheduled to hold a caucus meeting at 6:00 a.m. Beijing time on November 10 to discuss proposals related to ending the government shutdown.
The outcome of their meeting is expected to directly influence whether the U.S. government shutdown ends. According to ABC News, the short-term funding bill is likely to receive sufficient support from Democratic senators.
