CZ's lawyer threatened to file a defamation lawsuit over Warren's claim that he "admitted guilt to money laundering charges." Warren's legal team responded that the senator's statement was "entirely accurate," as CZ did indeed admit to violating the Bank Secrecy Act—the United States' first anti-money laundering law. As a public figure, CZ must prove that Warren made false statements with actual malice, while Warren's side maintains her comments were based on public facts and carried no defamatory intent.
