TechFlow, October 31 — According to Cointelegraph, Bill Laboon, Ecosystem Vice President at the Web3 Foundation, criticized the EU's ProtectEU initiative for leading to "digital feudalism." The plan requires service providers to scan private communications on users' devices before encryption, effectively undermining the integrity of end-to-end encryption. Laboon pointed out that this would create a two-tiered encryption system: governments enjoying strong encryption protection while ordinary citizens are subject to surveillance. He emphasized that strong encryption is fundamental to digital life and should not be weakened, calling for the preservation of universal encryption standards to safeguard everyone's security and privacy rights.
