TechFlow news, October 29 — According to Cointelegraph, seven U.S. Democratic senators sent an open letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi and the Department of Justice demanding an explanation for President Trump's pardon of Binance co-founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ). The senators accused the pardon of sending a signal to the cryptocurrency industry that it can "commit crimes with impunity," and questioned potential financial ties between Trump and Binance. The letter referenced business connections between the Trump family’s decentralized finance platform, World Liberty Financial, and Binance, as well as reports indicating Binance had paid large sums to lobbyists associated with Trump. CZ previously admitted to violating the U.S. Bank Secrecy Act, and the senators expressed concern that the pardon would undermine federal law enforcement's ability to combat cryptocurrency-related crimes.
