TechFlow news, on October 23, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin said at the Shanghai Blockchain Week event that cryptographic technologies are rapidly advancing, with zero-knowledge proofs (ZK) and fully homomorphic encryption (FHE) becoming more efficient and user-friendly. He noted that Ethereum has achieved significant breakthroughs, now enabling real-time proof of Ethereum L1 blocks—a feat considered to require 5–10 years just two years ago. Vitalik emphasized that Ethereum is focusing on enhancing privacy protection capabilities and plans to increase its current processing capacity of 30–45 million by 10–100 times in the future. He predicted that industry sentiment will shift within five years from "why do we need ZK and blockchain" to "why not use these technologies," and introduced a new concept: "not your silicon, not your private keys," highlighting the importance of hardware security in cryptography.
