TechFlow, October 14 — According to on-chain investigator ZachXBT, Circle recently took preventive freezing actions against four EVM addresses allegedly linked to the Coinbase-related theft incident, in which the hacker profited by purchasing ETH. However, this move has drawn skepticism from the crypto community, with crypto investigator ZachXBT publicly criticizing it as "one of the most useless freezes."
The criticism centers on three main points: the freeze prematurely alerted the hacker, the frozen addresses actually held DAI instead of USDC, and the hacker could easily transfer the DAI to new addresses and swap it for USDC.
