TechFlow news, October 12 — According to Bloomberg, U.S. Vice President JD Vance said that President Trump is willing to engage in rational negotiations with China over tariff issues. Vance urged China to "choose the path of reason" amid the escalating U.S.-China trade war, claiming Donald Trump holds stronger leverage. "This will be a delicate balancing act, largely dependent on how China responds," Vance said on Fox News' *Sunday Morning Futures* program. Vance stated he had spoken with Trump on Saturday and Sunday, adding that the president "greatly appreciates the friendship he has built with China," but emphasized: "We have many cards to play. I hope, and I know the president hopes, that we won't need to use them." China's Ministry of Commerce, in its own statement on Sunday, called on the U.S. to stop threatening higher tariffs and urged further talks to resolve outstanding trade disputes. Over the past week, China has announced new export controls and other measures, heightening tensions—though some of these measures will not take effect until November or may not be widely implemented.
