TechFlow news, October 9 — According to The Block, Base, the Ethereum Layer 2 project incubated by Coinbase, is hiring a "Token and Governance Research Specialist," signaling the team's formal move toward planning a potential token strategy and decentralized governance framework. As per the job description, the role will involve "defining potential token objectives and developing a phased roadmap for decentralized governance of the Base chain and its ecosystem." Last month, both Jesse Pollak, founder of Base, and Brian Armstrong, CEO of Coinbase, stated they are actively "exploring" the possibility of launching a native token—a shift from Coinbase's earlier stance that it would not issue a new network token for Base.
