TechFlow, on October 3, according to Decrypt, a 39-year-old Portuguese suspect named Pedro M. was recently arrested at a luxury shopping mall in Bangkok. The suspect is accused of involvement in cryptocurrency and credit card fraud across multiple countries including Portugal, Europe, the Philippines, and Thailand, with the total amount involved reaching $580 million (approximately €500 million).
The suspect had been illegally residing in Thailand since 2023 and continued carrying out fraudulent activities during this period, defrauding over 1 million Thai baht (approximately $30,800) in Bangkok. His identity was ultimately uncovered by a Portuguese journalist on vacation, after which Thai police confirmed his identity through facial recognition technology and proceeded with the arrest.
