TechFlow news, on October 2, according to Coindesk, the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) reiterated its ban on cryptocurrency mining at farms within the emirate, warning that violators will face severe penalties and disruption of government services.
According to ADAFSA, such activities conflict with the intended purpose of farmland, which is limited solely to growing crops and raising livestock.
Farms found engaging in mining will be fined 100,000 dirhams (approximately $27,000), with fines doubled for repeat offenders. In addition to fines, ADAFSA will cut off power supply, confiscate equipment, and suspend participation in agricultural support programs.
ADAFSA stated that violators, including owners and tenants, may also be referred to other authorities for further action.
