TechFlow news, on October 1, according to Jinshi Data, Senate Republican Leader Thune said the Senate will vote Wednesday on a bill to reopen the federal government. He expressed optimism that gaining more Democratic support could break the appropriations deadlock. In a television interview, Thune said, "We got three [Democratic] votes tonight." He added that Republicans hope to secure additional votes in the next round. "Ultimately, we will get enough votes in the Senate to pass this bill and keep the government running," Thune said. He blamed the ongoing government shutdown on Democratic leadership, accusing Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, a New York Democrat, of catering to progressive lawmakers. "This is completely unnecessary," Thune said. "They're doing this solely to appease the progressive base and Schumer's fears."
