TechFlow news, September 30 — According to BBC, a Chinese woman, Zhimin Qian (also known as Yadi Zhang), has been convicted in the UK for her involvement in the world's largest single cryptocurrency fraud case, involving over £5.5 billion (approximately $7.4 billion). She is currently in custody awaiting sentencing.
On Monday, Southwark Crown Court in London announced that the 47-year-old Chinese woman pleaded guilty to charges of unlawfully obtaining and possessing cryptocurrency. According to a statement from UK police, between 2014 and 2017, she defrauded more than 128,000 victims and converted the illicit funds into Bitcoin assets. Police said the case involved a seven-year investigation spanning multiple jurisdictions.
