Sentient Labs, a pioneering company in the field of open-source artificial general intelligence (AGI), today announced its official expansion into the East Asian market through a major campus tour series and corporate collaboration initiative. Committed to advancing and democratizing AGI innovation, the company previously secured $85 million in seed funding from leading global investors including Peter Thiel's Founders Fund and Pantera Capital.
As AGI adoption accelerates, mainstream AI tools remain largely closed-source, with unclear values and ambiguous boundaries. Sentient Labs sees China and East Asia as pivotal forces in the democratization of open-source AGI. China is continuously strengthening its open AI ecosystem, with iterative open models such as DeepSeek by DeepQiuSuo and Ling-1T by Alibaba empowering entrepreneurs, researchers, and students to participate in AI innovation without barriers.
Sandeep Nailwal, co-founder of Sentient Labs, outlined the company’s vision: expanding pathways for open-source AGI development. He emphasized: "We view the younger generation in China and East Asia as key contributors to building AGI; their early involvement will directly shape the future of open AGI."
From October 24 to 31, 2025, TinTinLand will partner with Sentient Labs to host the "Sentient East Asia Tour" across four cities: Shanghai, Beijing, Tokyo, and Seoul.
