Neo will launch the Polaris Launchpad with a $500,000 prize pool
Neo Global Development (NGD) announced the upcoming launch of a new hackathon and support program. Polaris Launchpad will feature five development tracks and a prize pool of $500,000.
Neo Global Development (NGD) has announced the upcoming launch of a new hackathon and support program. Polaris Launchpad will feature five development tracks and a prize pool of $500,000.
Mission
In 2021, Neo launched Neo N3, the latest and most powerful version of its blockchain development platform. To invite pioneering developers to build on N3, NGD hosted the Frontier Launchpad hackathon, which attracted over 700 participants. Winners shared more than $100,000 in prizes and an additional $200,000 in post-event ecosystem support funding.
This year, NGD is upgrading the event with Polaris Launchpad, a brand-new hackathon and ecosystem incubation initiative. Polaris Launchpad will offer a total prize pool of $500,000. Additionally, NGD’s $200 million EcoBoost program will provide further funding opportunities to support the continued success of winning projects.
The Polaris Launchpad hackathon will feature multiple development tracks. These five tracks represent the next wave of decentralized applications that NGD aims to cultivate within the Neo N3 ecosystem:
-
DeFi
-
Metaverse and NFTs
-
DAO
-
Distributed Storage / Oracle Service Middleware
-
Web3 General Projects
Polaris Launchpad marks the next stage of Neo's development. The Neo ecosystem has established a solid foundation on the Neo N3 blockchain. Now, developers can view Polaris Launchpad as an entry point into this thriving ecosystem. Just as the North Star has historically guided explorers, Polaris Launchpad aims to guide developers seeking opportunities to build on Neo N3.
The Neo blockchain is supported by members of the Neo ecosystem, who will also play a key role in the Polaris Launchpad program. After announcing the hackathon winners, Neo will hold the Polaris Plus phase—a community voting round. During this phase, Neo will apply quadratic voting mechanisms to match community votes, enabling the community to reward projects they believe are most promising.
“Neo Frontier Launchpad brought many diverse and excellent ecosystem projects built on Neo N3,” said Liu Rendong, Head of Development at NGD. “With our current investment in Polaris Launchpad, we are elevating our incubation efforts to a new level. Polaris will help us discover the next cohort of developers and projects that can further enrich Neo’s evolving ecosystem and deliver value to our holders.”
Hackathon Resources
Throughout the Polaris Launchpad journey, participants will receive hands-on support from Neo’s global developer community. Both formal and informal support opportunities will be available during the hackathon.
The Planathon Phase of the hackathon will offer a series of planning and educational resources. Developers can join online panel discussions focused on DeFi, metaverse, NFTs, infrastructure, DAOs, and other topics.
During the development phase, developers can quickly get started using languages supported by Neo N3. Neo’s multi-language support allows developers to build smart contracts in their preferred and most familiar programming languages. Tutorials and demos will be available for C#, Python, Go, Java, and TypeScript. Participants can also attend in-depth workshops introducing all native features of Neo N3, including the NeoFS distributed storage platform and oracle services.
Timeline
The Polaris Launchpad event will run from March 7 to June 21:
-
Polaris Launchpad Planathon Phase (Education and Planning): March 7 – April 4
-
Polaris Launchpad Hackathon Phase (Development and Judging): April 12 – May 9
