Ethereum's Current State: Short-Term Volatility Driven by External Capital
Zishi analyzed that Ethereum’s recent surge above $4,200 was not driven by internal crypto capital, but strongly propelled by U.S. stock markets and institutional funds—similar to the rally seen around Bitcoin ETF approvals. He pointed out that with the Fed rate cuts not yet implemented and pension fund inflows not fully realized, the current rise appears more like short-term volatility rather than the beginning of a new bull market. Ethereum might突破 $5,000, but volatility will persist, and investors should closely monitor institutional capital flows.
Tanghua Banzhu believes that despite clear institutional entry, retail holdings have decreased, making it difficult for small investors to benefit from the price gains.
Ethereum Price Ceiling: $5,000, $6,000, or Higher?
Guests offered varying views on Ethereum’s potential price:
Zishi believes external capital could push Ethereum beyond $5,000, though the exact level depends on entry points and market volatility. He emphasized that capital is currently rotating only between Bitcoin and Ethereum, with liquidity in altcoins and new tokens nearly vanished, indicating outside money favors only top-tier assets.
Ailerson predicted Ethereum would likely突破 $5,000 in the short term, with a psychological resistance around $6,300–$6,500. In the long run, referencing Bitcoin’s price ratio and market sentiment, it could reach $8,000–$10,000. He cautioned that the cyclical nature of market spirals must be analyzed with data.
Tanghua Banzhu noted that Bitcoin’s status as a reserve asset is not yet fully solidified, and at present, Ethereum is better positioned as a core asset rather than a reserve asset. Even Bitcoin faces over 40% drawdown risk during bull markets, with Ethereum facing even higher risk, urging investors to proceed with caution.
Investment Strategy and Risk Management
The three guests shared their experiences and recommendations on investment positioning:
Ailerson suggested a “532” allocation: 50% Bitcoin, 30% Ethereum, and 20% other promising tokens (such as SOL). He emphasized using dollar-cost averaging to avoid buying at peaks, monitoring information from leading exchanges like HTX to capture market opportunities.
Zishi admitted he had “sold too early” on Ethereum and is currently holding no positions, choosing instead to wait and observe. He believes trading is “the art of waiting,” and staying in cash is also an investment strategy.
Tanghua Banzhu advised retail investors to maintain a bull-market mindset, watch for catch-up opportunities in major layer-1 tokens (like SOL, AVAX), and stick to established trading strategies to avoid losses from frequent changes.
