CZ: Missed the entire "ETH train," but perhaps that led to Binance and BNB
Binance founder Zhao Changpeng (CZ) responded to a community question about whether he holds ETH, stating that he does not hold any meaningful amount of ETH—possibly only small quantities in some old wallets, primarily leftover from when BNB was initially issued as an ERC20 token and ETH was needed to pay gas fees. TechFlow news — On March 5, Binance founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ) responded to a community member's question about whether he holds ETH, stating that he does not hold any meaningful amount of Ethereum. He may only have small amounts left in some old wallets, primarily from when BNB was initially issued as an ERC20 token and required ETH for gas fees.
CZ further shared: "I missed the entire ETH train right before my eyes. I met Vitalik at a Bitcoin conference back in 2013. Learned about 'ICO' in 2014. In 2015, Vitalik briefly stayed at my small apartment in Tokyo during his travels. My (arrogant) suggestion was: 'A Turing-complete language on blockchain? Wouldn't that be too difficult?' He replied: 'It can be done.'
What a missed opportunity indeed. Then again, if I had invested in ETH that early, perhaps I wouldn’t have had the motivation to create Binance or launch BNB."
