A New Era of Staking Rewards
Unlike previous launches that excessively favored insiders with staking rewards, $IP staking follows a fair launch principle.
Neither the foundation nor early contributors receive staking rewards in advance; no one gets rewards before the community.
The Story network is currently in its Singularity Phase, which began at the genesis block (block 0) on January 19 and is expected to last approximately 42 days. All users are welcome to participate in staking or delegated staking—please note that no staking rewards are generated during this period, but it provides everyone an opportunity to decide whether to stake.
With the arrival of the Big Bang Block, staking rewards will officially begin. Each block will distribute 1.9477989871 $IP, resulting in approximately 55,555 $IP distributed daily at a block time of 3 seconds per block.
Time-Weighted Staking Model
Staking is the foundation of security and sustainability for any Proof-of-Stake blockchain. A well-designed staking mechanism not only secures the network but also incentivizes participants to make long-term commitments, aligning economic incentives with network security and mission.
Story's time-weighted staking model encourages long-term supporters. The longer the staking duration, the higher the rewards, thereby promoting network stability and realizing the network’s vision.
Suppose a user chooses to stake 2,000 $IP for a 90-day fixed term; they will ultimately receive rewards equivalent to staking 2,200 $IP. Even if the user extends their staking period beyond the initial 90 days, the reward bonus remains effective.
To further enhance network security, locked tokens can also be staked. However, we firmly believe that locked tokens should be treated differently from unlocked tokens, receiving a lower reward multiplier of 0.5x. Additionally, these rewards will be locked for at least six months to ensure priority for the community.
