DAU hits new high—what big move is Farcaster making again?
A new feature called "Actions" has been launched within the app, which the founder likened to a "Chrome extension for social apps."

Last night, AERO's price surged past $1.90, while Base ecosystem TVL exceeded $4 billion. On April 6, Base recorded 2.4436 million transactions in a single day—a new all-time high. Moreover, since March 14, Base has consistently maintained over 1.1 million daily transactions. Alongside these impressive metrics, Farcaster, the social protocol, has recently seen its second wave of DAU growth, also reaching a record high.

Farcaster’s first user surge occurred in early February 2024, when Warpcast—the largest frontend client for Farcaster—launched its Frame feature, greatly enhancing interactivity within the social app. Around the same time, meme coins tied to Farcaster concepts such as DEGEN, FAR, and FRAME attracted a wave of new users who registered accounts despite not previously engaging with Farcaster. However, as market sentiment cooled, speculation around Farcaster gradually subsided. In early March, however, following the completion of the Cancun upgrade, activity across the Base ecosystem spiked significantly. Meme coins led by DEGEN injected fresh momentum into both Base and Farcaster, fueling a second wave of adoption.
A few days ago, Warpcast rolled out another major update—introducing the "Actions" feature—which allows integration of functionalities beyond the core Farcaster protocol. The Warpcast founder likened Actions to “Chrome extensions for social apps.”
The Actions menu is located near the bookmark and share buttons under each post. It includes mini-apps such as a red envelope function that advances the tipping culture on the platform, enabling users to tip in tokens beyond just DEGEN. Additionally, users can now verify FIDs, send Warps, and access other small utilities, all enhancing the overall Warpcast experience.

Beyond in-app improvements, one cannot overlook the influence of chain activity on Base and Zora that supports Farcaster’s growth. Thanks to the interactive capabilities of Frames and a long-standing creator-centric culture, Farcaster has become a launchpad for Base and Zora—many trending projects originate here.

For some, evaluating whether a Base-based project is credible now includes observing how actively it engages on its Warpcast account. In effect, Farcaster, Base, and Zora are mutually reinforcing—each energizing the others and forming a self-sustaining loop. More importantly, unlike the short-lived spike in early February, this current wave of user engagement on Warpcast has been sustained over time, resulting in stable DAU growth.
On Warpcast, the Degen channel remains the most popular. Its associated meme coin, DEGEN, has shed its “shitcoin” label and evolved into a top speculative asset within the Base ecosystem.

On March 28, Degen announced the launch of Degen Chain, a low-cost Layer 3 blockchain, pushing DEGEN’s price to yet another all-time high and sparking a new wave of speculation on-chain.
Last week saw widespread discussion about Layer 3s, with mixed opinions. Yet Degen stands out as the pioneer—and so far, the most hyped. With negligible gas fees and increasing deployment of lightweight applications, Lan Lee, developer behind Degen Chain, described its launch as a “iPhone moment” for crypto during an interview, saying it will dramatically enrich the on-chain ecosystem.
Originating from Warpcast and maturing on Base, DEGEN and Degen Chain still hold vast potential. Meanwhile, Farcaster—as Base’s backyard playground—has even greater potential to spawn alpha-generating projects if this momentum continues.
