BEVM is a BTC L2 built on Taproot that uses BTC as gas and is EVM-compatible. It leverages BTC-native Schnorr signatures, Mast contracts, and a BFT consensus network composed of 1,000 Bitcoin light nodes to build a fully decentralized BTC L2—making it one of the few BTC L2s that has already launched a testnet.
Currently, BEVM's testnet has been running stably for six months, with over 78,000 on-chain users holding assets, more than 5.8 million on-chain transactions, over 20 ecosystem projects, and a total value locked (TVL) exceeding $50 million—leading other BTC L2s with its dominant on-chain data metrics.
It is reported that BEVM has completed its first funding round and part of its second round, with multiple leading North American and Chinese-speaking BTC ecosystem institutions participating in the investment. BEVM’s post-investment valuation currently stands at $200 million, with further details awaiting official disclosure from BEVM.
This article provides a comprehensive overview of over 20 projects within the BEVM ecosystem, showcasing the development status of this leading BTC L2.
