LayerZero is a fully interoperable protocol designed specifically for lightweight cross-chain message passing. LayerZero enables authentic and guaranteed message transmission through configurable trustless mechanisms. In September 2021, it raised $6 million in Series A funding led by Multicoin and Binance Labs, with participation from Sino Global Capital, Defiance, and others.
In March 2022, it announced a $135 million Series A+ round co-led by FTX Ventures, Sequoia Capital, and a16z, with participation from Coinbase Ventures, PayPal Ventures, Tiger Global, and Uniswap Labs, achieving a post-money valuation of $1 billion.
It completed a $2 million seed round in April 2021, followed by $6.3 million and $135 million financings in September 2021 and March 2022 respectively. On October 11, the Layer 1 blockchain project Aptos integrated the cross-chain interoperability protocol LayerZero. The Aptos ecosystem will leverage LayerZero to unlock cross-chain opportunities, enabling the Aptos team to deliver critical infrastructure, applications, and advanced tools across the entire Move ecosystem and beyond.
The official codebase already includes references to the ZRO token, making it clear that a token launch is certain.
