TechFlow news, on September 21, the Shibarium cross-chain bridge connecting the Layer2 network Shibarium to Ethereum was previously attacked via a flash loan, resulting in approximately $2.4 million worth of ETH and SHIB being stolen. Shibarium has now released a security incident update stating: 1. Restricted specific bridge operations to prevent new unauthorized transactions; 2. Upgraded and restricted potentially exploitable pathways (deposits/withdrawals/claims/rewards), and added targeted defense controls to prevent abuse of delegated staking; 3. Recovered and protected at-risk BONE holdings at the staking manager level; short-term BONE staking by the attacker will be intervened and effectively limited through protocol mechanisms; 4. Rotated validator signers, migrated contract control to multi-party hardware custody; continued extensive migration from legacy keys; 5. Implemented real-time monitoring of attacker activity; automated alerts and reporting to partners and exchanges; 6. Engaged independent security researchers, incident response firms, and relevant authorities.
