TechFlow news, August 30 — According to Techinasia, citing emails obtained by Wired, the White House has directed the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) to add xAI's Grok chatbot to its approved list of artificial intelligence vendors.
Initially, xAI was not included in the GSA's approved list from August 2025, which featured OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic.
Emails from last week show that GSA leadership requested the reinstatement of two versions of xAI's large language models—Grok 3 and Grok 4—onto the procurement list. Government contractor Carahsoft has also updated its contract to include xAI, and as of August 29, 2025, both Grok versions are available on the GSA Advantage marketplace.
Previously, xAI had announced a government-focused version of Grok for U.S. agencies, but approval was delayed due to the chatbot generating offensive content. There is currently no information available regarding pricing or government discounts for xAI services.
