TechFlow news, on August 23, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Lutnick posted: "The United States now holds a 10% stake in Intel, one of America's leading technology companies. This historic agreement will solidify America's leadership position in the semiconductor sector, driving economic growth and helping to ensure America's technological edge. I thank Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan for reaching this fair and reasonable agreement for both Intel and the American people."
Intel stated that the U.S. government purchased 433.3 million shares of common stock at $20.47 per share, representing a total investment of approximately $8.9 billion for a 10% equity stake. Intel noted that this price was below the prevailing market price. Intel (INTC.US) closed up 5.53%, temporarily at $24.80, with a trading volume of $4.785 billion.
Earlier reports indicated that Trump said he is considering holding a 10% stake in Intel through a transaction and will pursue more such deals.
