TechFlow, August 18 — According to Cointelegraph, Thailand officially launched today a nationwide regulatory sandbox initiative called TouristDigiPay, allowing foreign tourists to exchange cryptocurrencies for Thai baht and make electronic payments.
Users are required to complete anti-money laundering identity verification (KYC) procedures and open accounts with digital asset firms and e-money service providers regulated by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Thailand and the Bank of Thailand. The program will impose monthly spending limits and prohibit direct cash withdrawals.
