TechFlow news, August 14 — According to The Block, Google has officially confirmed that its cryptocurrency exchange and software wallet policies on the Google Play Store will not restrict the use of non-custodial wallets. Earlier media reports suggesting Google planned to ban unregistered non-custodial wallets in multiple countries had sparked industry concerns.
According to Google's latest statement, the company will update its Help Center content to clarify this policy. The new rules will take effect on October 29, 2025, requiring cryptocurrency exchange and wallet apps to comply with local laws and regulations. In the United States, developers must either register with the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) as a money services business or obtain federal or state-chartered banking status.
