TechFlow, August 11 — According to Decrypt, OpenAI's o3 model defeated xAI's Grok 4 model 4:0 in Google Kaggle's Game Arena AI chess demonstration match. World chess champion Magnus Carlsen assessed both models' playing level as equivalent to amateur beginners, with an estimated rating of around 800. The competition rules required the AI models to play without specialized training, allowing only four legal moves per turn; any violation resulted in an immediate loss.
