TechFlow news, July 27 — According to Cointelegraph, Pakistan's Minister for Cryptocurrency and Blockchain Bilal Bin Saqib stated that the country's demographic structure will drive Bitcoin adoption to "leapfrog" developed nations.
Bilal Bin Saqib noted that Pakistan has 40 million crypto wallets, ranking it among the top five countries globally in cryptocurrency adoption. With a median age of 20 and a total population of 250 million, 70% of Pakistanis are under the age of 30. He said: "Emerging markets will leapfrog in adopting these new technologies, and smaller countries can adopt Bitcoin more easily."
Earlier reports indicated that Pakistan and El Salvador signed a memorandum of understanding in July to share knowledge on Bitcoin education, digital asset infrastructure, and energy development for crypto mining. Pakistan plans to use up to 10,000 megawatts of surplus electricity for Bitcoin mining, with 2,000 megawatts allocated specifically for Bitcoin mining and AI data centers.
