TechFlow, July 22 — According to Jinshi Data, sources revealed that Bank of England officials are considering pausing the public-facing digital pound initiative. The central bank has privately urged the banking sector to accelerate payment innovations, aiming to achieve similar benefits without launching a CBDC. The Bank of England stated it still wants to retain the ability to issue a CBDC if necessary, but is willing to step back if the private sector continues rolling out new electronic payment technologies and its staff assess that the benefits of advancing the digital pound have diminished.
