TechFlow, July 18 — According to Decrypt, former semi-professional football player Shane Donovan Moore has been sentenced to two and a half years in federal prison for running a fraudulent cryptocurrency mining scheme. Between January 2021 and October 2022, Moore deceived more than 40 investors through Quantum Donovan LLC, defrauding over $900,000. He promised investors daily 1% returns from mining operations but instead used the funds for personal expenses including luxury apartments, high-end goods, and electronics, while maintaining the scam through Ponzi-style payments to early investors.
Moore primarily targeted individuals within football communities in Washington, Utah, Oregon, Connecticut, and New Jersey, exploiting personal trust relationships to recruit victims, resulting in losses exceeding $387,000. In her sentencing remarks, Judge Tana Lin specifically noted the emotional and psychological harm Moore caused to his victims.
