TechFlow news, on July 17, according to the Bangkok Post, the Thai Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has jointly launched a nationwide cryptocurrency sandbox program with the Bank of Thailand, allowing foreign tourists to exchange digital assets into Thai baht for tourism spending. Supervised by multiple regulatory agencies, the initiative aims to enhance Thailand's tourism competitiveness and promote digital asset adoption. Under the rules, tourists can only exchange currencies through licensed digital asset operators and must spend via regulated electronic payment platforms; direct payments using digital assets are not permitted. Approved sandbox participants may provide services for up to 18 months.
