TechFlow, July 14 — According to Jinshi Data, EU Commissioner for Trade and Economic Security Maroš Šefčovič said on the 14th that if U.S.-EU trade talks fail, the EU is prepared to impose retaliatory tariffs on $72 billion (approximately $84 billion) worth of U.S. imports. This comes as U.S. President Trump announced on the 12th that he would impose a 30% tariff on EU imports starting August 1, amid ongoing efforts between the EU and the U.S. to reach a trade agreement. EU member state ministers convened in Brussels on the 14th to discuss responses to Trump's latest remarks and prepare countermeasures.
