TechFlow news, on July 3, according to Forbes, the U.S. Department of Justice announced the takedown of the largest healthcare fraud scheme in history, charging 324 defendants with over $14.6 billion in false claims. The defendants include 96 doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and other medical professionals, spread across 50 federal districts and 12 state attorney general offices nationwide. This operation also seized more than $245 million in cash, cryptocurrency, luxury vehicles, and other assets. Meanwhile, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) prevented over $4 billion in fraudulent payments by suspending or revoking billing privileges for 205 providers. The case known as "Operation Golden" accounts for $10.6 billion in fraud and is linked to organized crime networks in Russia, Estonia, and Kazakhstan. Attorney General Pamela Bondi stated that the government will maintain a zero-tolerance policy toward criminal acts exploiting the healthcare system for profit.
