TechFlow news, on June 21, SlowMist CISO @im23pds tweeted a reminder to beware of cold wallet crypto giveaway scams impersonating official entities.
Fraudsters on the X platform are spoofing official accounts, claiming to give away Ledger and other cold wallets for free, and actually sending genuine devices in "brand-new sealed" packaging to lower users' guard.
The real trap often lies within the device itself or the accompanying setup instructions, potentially involving tampered devices or using social engineering to trick users into revealing their recovery phrases.
