TechFlow news, June 20 — According to Cointelegraph, the Jasper County Sheriff's Office in Texas recently took extraordinary measures by using electric cutting tools to break open a Bitcoin ATM machine, successfully recovering $25,000 that a family had been scammed out of. The fraudster, impersonating a government employee, tricked the family into depositing funds into a local Bitcoin ATM operated by Bitcoin Depot.
The action has sparked controversy within the cryptocurrency community, with some users questioning the legality of law enforcement damaging third-party property. Sheriff Havard stated that fraud cases involving cryptocurrency are "very complex and difficult to resolve," and the suspect remains at large.
