TechFlow news, June 19 — According to Cryptonews, U.S. President Donald Trump showed strong interest in cryptocurrency during a White House luncheon with Pakistan's Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir.
According to a statement from Pakistan's military public relations department, ISPR, both sides discussed avenues for expanding bilateral cooperation, including trade, economic development, mineral resources, artificial intelligence, energy, cryptocurrency, and emerging technologies.
South Asia analyst Michael Kugelman said Trump had a "deep personal interest" in discussing cryptocurrency, and that the U.S. and Pakistan already cooperate on critical minerals, cryptocurrency, and counterterrorism.
Pakistan is considering several cryptocurrency development initiatives, including establishing a Bitcoin reserve. Additionally, Pakistan has committed to providing 2000 megawatts of surplus electricity for Bitcoin mining and AI data centers.
