TechFlow news, June 16 — According to Reuters citing sources, Coinbase and Gemini are expected to receive EU crypto licenses from Luxembourg and Malta respectively, authorizing them to operate across the 27-member bloc under MiCA regulations. The move has sparked regulatory divergence in Europe, with some countries questioning Malta's swift approvals for OKX, Crypto.com, and Gemini, raising concerns over a "race to the bottom" in regulation. Officials from France's AMF and ESMA have also voiced concerns about uneven enforcement. Meanwhile, Coinbase is expanding its small team in Luxembourg, strengthening its compliance efforts.
