TechFlow news, June 8 — According to Jinshi Data, citing The Washington Post and sources familiar with the matter, after Trump's dispute with Musk, representatives from NASA and the Pentagon reached out to SpaceX's competitors, urging accelerated development of alternative rockets and spacecraft. The report stated, "Government officials contacted at least three commercial space companies—Rocket Lab, Stoke Space, and Blue Origin—to assess the status of their rockets and determine when they could be used for government missions." Musk previously indicated he might halt flights of the Dragon spacecraft, which would prevent NASA from transporting astronauts to and from the International Space Station. Musk later withdrew the threat. However, his remarks raised concerns among NASA officials who rely on SpaceX for astronaut safety, while the Pentagon also heavily depends on the company to launch its critical satellites.
