TechFlow news, June 6 — According to Cointelegraph, blockchain analytics firm Chainalysis reported that a donation of 300 bitcoins (worth approximately $31 million) received earlier this month by Ross Ulbricht, founder of Silk Road, appears to have originated from wallets linked to the darknet marketplace Alphabay. Analysis shows the donor used multiple mixing services to obscure transaction trails, and the funds may stem from early Alphabay vendors. Blockchain investigator ZachXBT confirmed these funds did not come from Silk Road, but the transaction pattern suggests potential illicit origins. Alphabay, once considered the successor to Silk Road, operated between 2014 and 2017 before being shut down during "Operation Bayonet." Notably, Ulbricht received a full presidential pardon from Donald Trump in January this year, after serving 12 years in prison for operating Silk Road.
