TechFlow news, June 5 — According to Decrypt, Zoltan Istvan, a Democratic candidate for governor of California, has proposed radical policies to address the threat of AI, advocating for universal basic income (UBI) and equipping every household with humanoid robots. Istvan warned that AI and humanoid robots could eliminate 50% of jobs within the next five years, calling it an imminent "employment doomsday." He emphasized that AI is advancing far faster than public awareness and called for international cooperation to establish effective regulatory frameworks. Previously a presidential candidate representing the Transhumanist Party, Istvan has now joined the Democrats to increase his competitiveness in California. He stated that without swift implementation of UBI, social unrest would be inevitable amid mass unemployment.
