TechFlow news, May 20 — Elon Musk said Tuesday he plans to significantly reduce political donations in the future, according to a report by Global Market Report. Musk previously spent over $250 million to help Donald Trump win a second term. However, when asked at the Qatar Economic Forum whether he would maintain the same level of donations in future elections, Musk denied it. "I think there will be a significant reduction in political contributions going forward," he said.
When pressed for reasons, he simply replied, "I feel I've done enough." The world's richest man left room for flexibility, adding, "If I find it necessary to make political donations in the future, I still will. But right now, I don't see a reason." His remarks could disappoint Republicans seeking re-election in 2026. In addition to supporting Trump, Musk injected over $19 million during the final phase of the 2024 election to help Republicans narrowly secure a majority in Congress.
