TechFlow news, May 15 — According to Jinshi Data, Polish Deputy Minister of Economy Baranowski said on Thursday that talks between the EU and the United States are accelerating, but the EU would prefer reaching a good agreement over a quick trade deal. Trump had imposed a series of industry tariffs affecting European automakers, steel, and aluminum producers, but later reduced the tariffs to 10% for 90 days to allow negotiations. "We see some positive factors, as we observe signs from the U.S. side indicating a de-escalation," Baranowski, who chaired the meeting of EU trade officials, said. "This is a good sign that negotiations with the EU are speeding up." Prior to the meeting, EU Commission Vice President Šefčovič told reporters he had a "constructive call" on Wednesday with U.S. Commerce Secretary Lutnick. Šefčovič said: "Our goal is to address immediate challenges while also laying the groundwork for deeper cooperation."
