TechFlow, May 13 — According to The Block, New York City Mayor Eric Adams reiterated the goal of making New York the global crypto capital during a press conference on Monday. Adams stated that the focus would be on the long-term value of these technologies for the city and its residents, rather than chasing memes or trends.
The city will host its first-ever crypto summit at Gracie Mansion on May 20. Adams emphasized that cryptocurrency and blockchain technology can help underserved populations gain access to traditional financial services. City Chief Technology Officer Matt Fraser noted that blockchain applications will extend beyond financial systems, potentially enabling democratic access to critical records such as birth and death certificates.
