TechFlow news, May 6 — According to Politico, Maxine Waters, the senior Democrat on the U.S. House Committee on Financial Services, plans to object to a scheduled joint hearing on cryptocurrency policy on May 7. Since such joint hearings require unanimous consent, her objection would effectively block the meeting.
According to sources, Waters intends to lead a group of Democratic members from the Financial Services Committee in boycotting the hearing and instead hold a separate "shadow hearing" focusing on the Trump family's interests in the cryptocurrency industry. This move represents the latest Democratic effort to counter Republican-backed industry-friendly digital asset legislation by highlighting potential conflicts of interest involving the Trump family.
