TechFlow news, May 6 — According to Decrypt, Binance founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ) recently gave an interview with Rug Radio at Token2049 Dubai, where he detailed his four-month prison experience for the first time.
CZ described his initial impression of prison as intimidating: "When you walk in, all you see are big guys with tattoos—on their faces, on their heads—shouting at each other." Due to his non-U.S. citizenship status, he was placed in a low-security prison rather than a minimum-security facility.
CZ admitted the entire experience was "frightening" and "extremely difficult," and even the strip search upon entry was deeply humiliating. He shared a cell for several weeks with an inmate serving a 30-year sentence for double murder. However, CZ said his fellow inmates treated him kindly, and he still keeps in touch with some of them today.
The experience led CZ to rethink his life priorities: "Health comes first, then family, then work and everything else." He mentioned he doesn't particularly miss food, only somewhat misses a comfortable bed, but what he missed most was his family.
