TechFlow, April 23 — According to Jinshi Data, Warren Buffett now holds nearly 5% of the entire U.S. Treasury market, locking in $300.87 billion worth of short-term U.S. Treasuries through Berkshire Hathaway, based on data disclosed in the company's latest financial filings.
This massive position gives Buffett control over 4.89% of the entire U.S. Treasury market. As of the end of March 2025, the total size of the U.S. Treasury market stood at $6.15 trillion, meaning that for every $20 in U.S. Treasuries circulating in the market, $1 belongs to him.
The report stems from Berkshire Hathaway's filings, highlighting Buffett's strong stance on safety and liquidity. According to the U.S. Treasury's "Monthly Statement of the Public Debt," the entire U.S. Treasury market reached $6.15 trillion by the end of March, which serves as the basis for the 4.89% calculation.
Currently, Buffett's holdings of U.S. Treasuries even exceed those of the Federal Reserve, as the U.S. central bank currently holds just over $195 billion in Treasuries.
