TechFlow, April 23 — According to the Global Times, on April 22 local time, U.S. President Trump stated he has no intention of firing Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell, but still insists the Fed should lower interest rates. Trump hopes Powell will take more aggressive action on interest rate policy. Previously, Trump had repeatedly criticized Powell publicly, calling his actions "slow and wrong," even suggesting it would be better if Powell left sooner rather than later. These remarks triggered market unease, leading investors to sell U.S. stocks, bonds, and the dollar, driving gold prices to a record high. In response, Powell said the Fed would not yield to political pressure and would focus on combating inflation.
