TechFlow, April 12 — According to Jinshi Data, the second 2025 BRICS Economic and Trade Liaison Group meeting was held via video conference on April 10–11. During the meeting, BRICS members held in-depth discussions on the U.S. "reciprocal tariffs" policy, expressing serious concern over the trade tensions triggered by these measures, and called for joint opposition to unilateralism and trade protectionism. China stated that the recent U.S. government rollout of the "reciprocal tariffs" policy severely undermines the international trading system, disrupts global industrial and supply chains, and causes sustained shocks to the world economy—constituting typical acts of unilateralism, protectionism, and economic bullying. As an important platform for emerging market and developing countries to strengthen unity, cooperation, and safeguard shared interests, BRICS plays a significant role in advancing global governance reform and promoting liberalization and facilitation of global trade and investment. At this critical juncture, BRICS members must uphold the right course of globalization, jointly safeguard the rules-based multilateral trading system, and maintain global economic stability.
