TechFlow, April 2 — According to Decrypt, Republican candidates Jimmy Patronis and Randy Fine, both heavily backed by a pro-cryptocurrency super political action committee (PAC), won Florida's special congressional elections.
Fine defeated Democrat Josh Weil in Florida's 6th District with 56.7% of the vote, while Patronis won against Gay Valimont in the 1st District with 57% support. Both campaigns received significant backing from Defend American Jobs, a crypto-focused political action committee aligned with the Republican Party and part of the Fairshake political funding network.
The Fairshake network is supported by cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase, blockchain payments firm Ripple, tech investment firm Andreessen Horowitz, and the founders of cryptocurrency exchange Gemini.
