TechFlow reports that on March 28, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) announced on its official website the formal dismissal of civil enforcement actions against Kraken (Payward, Inc. and Payward Ventures, Inc.), Consensys Software Inc., and Cumberland DRW LLC. The dismissals were made "with prejudice," meaning the SEC cannot bring the same allegations in these cases again.
The SEC stated in the announcement that the decision to dismiss was made to advance reforms and updates to its regulatory approach toward the cryptocurrency industry, rather than being based on an evaluation of the specific allegations in the cases. The SEC also emphasized that this decision does not affect its position in other matters related to the crypto industry.
